Spring in snow country, in the Minamiuonuma region in Niigata.
Once it starts to warm up, and the snow has largely melted, everything seems to spring to life.
In what seems like just a matter of days, the cherry blossoms (sakura 桜) have started. 🌸🌸
Many of the local parks, public entities, and private residences have cherry trees.
In the spring, the cherry trees look so beautiful, with their pretty pink flowers adding a burst of color to the scenery.
Perhaps because the winters here are so long and snowy, the cherry blossoms in spring seem extra special.
