It is summer here in Minamiuonuma, and the tree frogs are out en masse, especially in the evening and early morning.
The frogs are born in the neighboring rice paddies, when the paddies are flooded during the spring. The tadpoles live in the flooded rice paddies until they become frogs.
And now they are little bitty frogs, eager to explore the great big world outside the rice paddies.
The tree frogs are everywhere. They climb walls and stick to windows. They are cautious of people and usually hop away, although there is one particularly curious frog who hopped inside the moment I opened the door.
